"Concert of the Cats", an engraving made by Jacques Couché in 1786 after a painting of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, redrawn by Benoît Louis Prévost 😻
Interestingly, the print attributes the original painting to Pieter Bruegel the Elder (written as P.Brueghel), but no traces of the painting itself! But I was able to find a similar-looking painting by Jan van Kessel the Elder created between 1650 and 1660. Is it a copy of the disappeared Bruegel's painting, or did the print's publisher mix up authors? Who knows the answer? 🤔
